    Greetings from Los Angeles

"The Los Angeles Biennale in Shenzhen is an experimentation in creating a nomadic biennale on urbanism, hosted by the Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture. It is not possible to holistically represent Los Angeles in Shenzhen, but as a frontier-city, L.A. is constantly growing, seeking and evolving, manufacturing its progressive self. Why curb our physical boundaries, when Shenzhen and Los Angeles are partners in the traffic of a global economic network, and images of Los Angeles populate the world under all types of alternative names? Fiction is everything when every snapshot is fleeting, and we do not presume L.A. to have a sole reality. Through a hodgepodge of presentations, discussions, art pieces and interactive opportunities, the Biennale will perpetuate a generative study and performance of Los Angeles."

Can you all start by giving the history of how the idea for this "experiment" came about?

Quondam, the biennale event was born in a particularly right moment when everything fell into place. I pitched it to Ole Bouman when I was in Shenzhen, they funded it because the idea was creative. With the initial help of Sarah Lorenzen we quickly curated 8 other highly creative executive producers and additional participants with the right chemistry and temperament. We are going to Shenzhen to start designing L.A.'s first biennale/biennial with an open forum of sorts, critique what's on the ground and aim to generate a useful framework we will be able to continue. We purposefully b-lined a lot of the usual suspects.

The idea is very compact and we will be producing all kinds of conversations and works.

Visit next Friday Saturday and partially Sunday. We will be here via Value Factory.

Thanks. So, from my half of the perspective at least, the conversation you and I had (within Sleepless in Shenzhen) about conducting a virtual biennale was quite the uncanny coincidence. Otherwise, I was beginning to have doubts about virtual integrity. ;-)

But then I couldn't tell you the whole story S. :)

That's perfectly clear and perfectly fine now. Perhaps, sometime after the forthcoming event, we can discuss reenactionary bilocating architecturism biennales!!;-}---[===j*
