Problem: To create an exhibition to be displayed in the Vanderbilt Hall in Grand Central Station that encourages guests to visit hotels featured in the New York City Area.
Solution: The Library Hotel Collection is a group of four hotels located in New York City. Each of these hotels is within walking distance of different tourist attractions and features its own theme. The exhibition draws visitors inside by featuring an entryway of oversized books. Inside the exhibit guests can receive information from interactive touch screens in exaggerated open books or from the employee at "The Circulation Desk". Each hotel has its own space within the exhibition. The Library Hotel has an area where guests can sit down and read while waiting for their train. The Hotel Casablanca display is set up as an old fashioned movie set where guests can pose and take pictures of the "visiting" the hotel. The Hotel Giraffe exhibit sends guests through a "maze", featuring woodwork similar to that found in the hotel lobby, where they can learn more about the hotel. Finally, the Hotel Elysee features a restaurant called The Monkey Bar. In this area of the exhibition guests can complete the Monkey Bars to win a free dessert or pay to have a caricature done, since one of the major features of the restaurant are the caricatures drawn on the walls.
