Problem: To create a design for a hotel suite based on an abstract piece of art, created by either a professional artist or an original piece.

Solution: The design of the hotel suite was based on an original piece of art called "Home". The drawing is an abstracted version of the Chinese symbol Jia, or home. The design of the space draws its influences both from traditional Asian design and from the color palette and circular shape of the artwork. The focal feature in the sitting area of the suite is the round tray ceiling with three large pendant lights based on traditional Japanese lanterns. Another focal point in this space is the television wall treated to look like Shoji screen. In the bedroom area the bed is featured with a custom headboard and a wooden lattice suspended from the ceiling, creating a more intimate feeling in the space.
