Elementary - Restaurant Design

Problem: To create a design for a themed restaurant based on either an object or idea.

Solution: The design for the restaurant was based on the idea of mystery and film noir. When guests walk into the restaurant they are greeted with a seating area that is custom designed to be shaped like a question mark. Both resin and solid walls block views to the restaurant, creating a feeling of suspense. Upon entering the main portion of the restaurant guests will notice the custom designed furnishings, including the chairs with their fingerprint back shape and the glass tables with metal rims suggesting the idea of a magnifying glass. Looking up, guests will see that the ceiling features are made up of cutouts in the ceiling in the shape of puzzle pieces. Drawing guests' attention the walls is a variety of artwork, including a pig pen cipher that guests can try and crack while waiting for their dinner. Finally, for guests looking for a private dining experience, there is a hidden dining section behind a secret door hidden within the bricks of the back wall.
