Floor - Wall - Roof [FWR] is an investigation into the elements which shape our environments. The exercise is as much about the process as the final design. [FWR] evolved through three phases: 1. walls only 2. floor + topography 3. floor + walls + roof + topography. The concept is to discover the spatial implications of each element and their abilities to influence the human experience independently and symbiotically.
The program of the project was basic. Using a limited palette of pre-deteremined elements, one must create a place for a table, a bed, a chair, and two sculptures. The emphasis was on the specific experience within each constructed environment. The constant question asked is "how am I there?" Iterative hand modeling proved fruitful in this methodology to constantly question how one may feel in each spatial construct.
