Seattle Urban Archive

\ Urban archive was explored through various adaptive reuse methodologies, and due to specific location, a concentration on user transportation within Seattle's tourist district.

Deconstructivist approach |

Design Goals : bring the dominance of the site away from the multi-story viaduct and back to the Archival space and neighboring Hill Climb-park. Hopefully, inviting visitors to enter interior space as pedestrians, cyclists, etc. With the ground floor remaining as an extension of the sidewalk and park, the archived material is able to be stored/displayed on the secondary level.

\ Substraction of Southern floor plates | maximize natural day lighting + passive heat gain

\ Archive shelves as guides | Selective exposure through frosted and translucent glass panels
