A series of tenant improvements culminating in the addition of the Cascadia Art Museum will renew waterfront activity and further enhance the arts focus of Edmonds, Washington. This former Safeway grocery store and attached single story retail center, which had languished for many years, was redeveloped into a vibrant retail center and museum for NW regional art. Our tasks were to analyze the existing structures, determine their viability for future uses and create an overall plan for development. This plan was then executed in a series of phased projects including site development (which included parking for Sound Transit), demolition of dilapidated structure, interior shell-and-core upgrades and a new free standing specialty retail pavilion. The project won the "Art + Architecture Award" in Historic Seattle's eighth annual Preservation Awards.
