Shigeru Ban Architects is a growing, critically acclaimed global practice with offices in Tokyo, Paris, and New York.

The position we are seeking to fill is in the New York Office. Work experience on projects located in the United States is required for this position. To support our schedule, qualified candidates must currently be available for interviews in New York City (interviews may be via video conference). Work is planned to begin during the months of June 2024 / July 2024.

We seek Architects / Designers with 6 to 10 years of experience to work with senior staff in developing documents for cultural, community and residential projects. Candidates must have a sound background working on projects during all phases of development – from concept design through completion of construction. 

Background shall include projects that are inventive, carefully detailed, with well-integrated building systems. Candidates must have exceptional design and presentation skills. We work with physical as well as digital models.

Applicants shall have in depth experience:

• Organizing sets of presentation and construction documents
• Managing consultant team coordination
• Developing Technical Detailing including innovative conditions
• Designing with US Model Building Codes
• Implementing sustainability strategies
• Conducting Quality Assurance Reviews of working drawings
• Managing tasks while supervising a project team
• Supporting Innovative Projects requiring Design Collaboration with Construction Trades
• Cultural, Community, or Residential Projects

Additional Requirements:

• Proactive mindset toward project realization
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
• Fluent or Business Level English Language proficiency.
• Valid United States work permit
• Bachelor or Master degree in Architecture
• LEED Accreditation is a plus
• Software Proficiency Requirements: AutoCAD and Rhino proficiency are required. Revit experience is a plus.
