Via Collective is an award-winning wayfinding and information design firm that creates solutions for the built environment. WBE and DBE-certified, we are small and mighty, working on big-city projects. We believe in respect, integrity, and collaboration with each other and our clients, and are looking for driven, ambitious, and fun people to join our team. This is a hybrid position with our office located near Bryant Park.

Working within the urban context, we design interior and exterior wayfinding systems that span a multitude of sectors including government, education, health care, and transportation. We are looking for a highly motivated, resourceful, and detail-oriented team player with 3-6 years of experience specifically in wayfinding design join our team.

Your background in graphic design includes a high standard of technical ability, typographic finesse, and an understanding of how brands work in multiple ways. You’re a self-starter, have a positive attitude, proud of your spot-on execution, and drive for success. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required and will be celebrated. You will work with a team that commands a solution-driven attitude and positive approach. You have the ability and desire to take ownership of projects, are not afraid to questions you need answered, and deliver high-quality work.

 You will be contributing to the design and execution of schematic, design development, and construction packages. You will work directly with the project manager and design director on these exciting and demanding projects.

Must have a solution-driven attitude and a positive approach to team collaboration and building client relationships. The ability to ask good questions, take ownership of your work,  and take pride in delivering high-quality work is absolute.

Responsibilities:

  1. Comprehension of architectural drawings and organizing principles of architectural drawing sets
  2. Comprehension of wayfinding strategies and ability to interpret messaging and direction through signage design and location
  3. Ability to work with team design through transparent, respectful, and immediate communication efforts for frequent workflow updates and file overlap
  4. Knowledge of signage fabrication means, methods, and tolerances
  5. Comprehension of typography fundamentals
  6. Ability to design three-dimensionally and articulate design-intent

Required Background:

  1. 4-year college degree (BFA in Architecture, Graphic, Industrial, or Interior Design)
  2. 3-6 years of experience specifically as a wayfinding designer
  3. Understanding of architectural drawings, scale, product materials, and implementation options
  4. Excellent communication skills; written and verbal
  5. Fluency with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and CAD Tools, required
  6. Experience with Sign Agent Pro, 3D modeling software, motion graphics, and rendering formats is a plus
