Construction Administration - Technical Field Representative

Job Summary:

This position is for a Technical Field Representative for the construction of a new 75,000 s.f. school in New York City. Duties will be full time during the 2 year period of construction and largely performed on the construction site in the Bronx. The Tech Rep will work closely with the Gran Kriegel project manager, project architect and support team as well the the School Construction Authority's project team.


  • Minimum 10 years’ experience with a degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience on construction sites
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Effective, non-confrontational demeanor in job meetings
  • Prior experience on projects for the New York City School Construction Authority is highly desirable for this role.
  • Proficiency with hand sketching and ACAD, and familiarity with project management software such as Prima Vera required. 

 Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Technical Field Representative will assist in ensuring that the Work conforms to the Contract Documents and that the quality of the Work meets acceptable standards.
  • The Technical Field Representative services shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
    • Perform on-Site observations of the progress and quality of Work and observe tests required by the Contract Documents to determine if the Work is being performed in a manner so that when completed it will be in conformance with the Contract Documents.
    • Respond to various Requests for Information from the Contractor and provide interpretations of Contract Documents
    • Review requests for Change Orders by the Contractor
    • Attend and participate in site meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
    • Maintain records at the construction site.
    • Receive and log Samples required at the site, and arrange for their examination recording the Consultant's approval or other action
