FF&E Designer (contract/part-time)

SITU - an interdisciplinary design firm based in Brooklyn, New York, is currently looking for a part-time/project based FF&E Designer to assist with a large-scale commercial interiors project for a high-profile client at the leading edge of the tech industry.

Working with the project team - the FF&E Designer will contribute to design concepts and presentation drawings, sourcing of images, creating 2D CAD furniture drawings, providing assistance with perspectival Photoshop drawings, specifying and managing all furniture and decorative lighting-related items including contacting manufacturers and distributors, assembling cut-sheets and schedules, ordering material/finish samples and assembling presentation boards.

Depending on level of independence and experience - some of the work can be performed remotely with weekly / bi-weekly video-conference check-ins.

Job Qualifications

  • Two or more years of experience in a professional setting with strong knowledge of FF&E fabrication & specification

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in either Interior Design, Furniture Design, Architecture or equivalent

  • Excellent eye for color, design and composition; facility with image/rendering production

  • Excellent skills in Adobe Creative Suite, Google Documents, Sheets & Slides, AutoCAD or similar drafting software; knowledge of Revit, Rhino, Sketchup is a plus.

  • Experience with creating furniture layouts and assembling technical information

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Detail-oriented and organized

  • Able to work independently

  • Must be eligible to work in the US

Responsibilities Include:

  • Identify FF&E needs in each project area

  • Develop and maintain project furniture schedule and cut-sheets

  • Management of overall FF&E project scope

  • Representation and communication using sketches, drawings, models, diagrams, and other visualization tools

  • Image production using Photoshop

  • Collaborative work with project team

  • In-person presentations to client are optional
