We are currently seeking a full time Quality Assurance / Quality Control Reviewer to support our growing number of projects in development.

As QA/QC Reviewer, you shall report directly to the QA/QC Manager as well as the Technical Director, BIG NYC's Executive Leadership team and the Partner Group. The responsibilities of this role include direct oversight and review of the entire documentation work flow process and working with other in-house personnel (e.g. Project Managers, production staff, etc.) to produce and document a quality product. More specifically, your responsibilities will include though may not be limited to:

 

  • Maintaining QAQC workflow and protocol
  • Reviewing technical documents for compliance with applicable codes, constructability and risk management
  • Assisting the Production Team and other key personnel in researching and selecting materials, developing project-specific details and preparing and maintaining reports
  • Functioning as technical resource to assist and mentor staff on technical issues for both project plan and quality control related issues
  • Demonstrating expertise on new materials, code changes and industry trends
  • Proactively evaluating, coordinating and integrating work with other project team members to ensure consistency and accuracy for the Project Team and BIG’s success
  • Participating in a multi-stage review and final evaluation of design and construction documents in order to confirm compliance with the contract deliverables and project documents (including but not limited to code compliance, drawing set organization, details, dimensions, interdisciplinary coordination items, specifications coordination, etc.) in order to uphold BIG’S quality control procedures
  • Working independently on multiple, concurrent projects, at various stages

 

We seek a candidate with:

  • Professional degree in Architecture or in a related field (construction or engineering)
  • Experience in high-rise and mixed-use development in North America
  • 15+ years of industry experience in similar project types
  • Proven track record of preparing conceptual, schematic, design development, construction documents, and other materials
  • Established thorough knowledge of building materials, detailing, construction techniques, building systems selection, related engineering principles, sustainability strategies and building codes
  • Demonstrated practical understanding of the application of software such as AutoCAD; working knowledge of Revit is advantageous
  • Experience with CSI specification formats is required
  • Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office – specifically Word, and spreadsheet programs
  • Demonstrated specifications examples that portray a highly organized professional
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to instruct and mentor other team members
  • Effective time management skills and ability to follow-up in a timely manner
  • Excellent, clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate in a team environment
  • Positive attitude for a fast-paced office
  • A fundamental understanding of multi-discipline practices required to execute small to large scale projects – from high-rise to mixed-use, as well as commercial super-tall towers to small single family residences.
  • Proactive with research and consistent follow-through
  • Extensive knowledge of building codes, structures and materials standards to develop specification requirements and solutions
