Live Your Dream: Art is in the details

After searching for the perfect lot for years, the owners purchased an undeveloped lot with unobstructed views of the City of Boulder and the Flatirons. They wanted a dream home that reflected their lifestyle and tastes, and insisted that the architecture be as spectacular as the site.

HMH Architecture + Interiors designed a 160-foot long wall to fuse the architecture and landscape, and frame the incredible views. Outside, the wall is the threshold between the court and the interiors. Inside, the wall showcases an impressive contemporary art collection and leads to the living room where views of the mountains unfold. Beyond the living room, the wall continues to form a narrow reflecting pool.

As ardent environmentalists and political activists, the owners needed a space to host fundraisers and meetings, which resulted in a large, open living room. The husband, a ceramic artist, also needed space for his studio and art gallery, which were located on the lower level of the house giving him views of the mountains and ample room to display his sculptures.

The design and construction of the house followed green practices, including triple pane windows, closed cell urethane insulation, radiant heating, and ten kilowatts of photovoltaic panels.

The result is a home that beautiful blends with the site and captures the unique needs of the homeowner’s lifestyle.
