The design is developed for an open design contest and for re-use in three different locations - Dundaga, Valmiera and Jelgava. The architectural solution is in the restrained manner, much effort is on the high energy efficiency and <green> construction process. From southern, western and eastern sides of the building there is a porch designed with glass and wooden shutters can be opened and closed according the weather conditions. During the summer glazing is open, but the wooden shutters are closed, therefore shading 2/3 of the facade and protecting premises from overheating. In winter the situation is contrary - open wooden shutters allows the sun to heat the glazed porch, and the heated air through the ventilation system is delivered to the building in order to save energy for heating of the cold air. Also such transformation of the building façades allows to change its <clothing> depending to the season. Buildings structure is a timber frame from pre-fabricated wooden columns, beams, ceiling and wall panels.
