For the German software company, FXFOWLE designed an expansion to the SAP Americas headquarters including interior design services and furniture selection. Constructed in two phases, the complex curves organically along the grade of the land while preserving an existing grove of chestnut trees. It is connected by an atrium, enclosed by a triple-glazed curtain wall system, which serves as the circulation spine and a venue for social and corporate gatherings. The full length of the south-facing atrium is shaded by a warmly detailed laminated wood brise soleil, and its floor features a geothermal-fueled radiant heating and cooling system. Offices line the north side of the building, capitalizing on landscape views. Green roofs, which further weave the structure into the landscape, are outfitted with a rainwater collection system. The project earned LEED Platinum certification, a first for the mid-Atlantic region.
