In collaboration with Diller Scofidio + Renfro, FXFOWLE completed a major aesthetic and functional transformation of Alice Tully Hall as part of a larger project for the Julliard School at Lincoln Center. The addition of a new three-story glass outer lobby establishes a dynamic new street presence while providing gathering space for patrons, donors, students and musicians. Contrasting the rectilinear nature of the original buildings and the lobby's new sheer glass façade, the focal point of the lobby is a curved wall comprised of back-lit Moabi wood veneer panels. Additional lobby upgrades include an expanded box office, public café and mezzanine-level donor room. The 1,100-seat Alice Tully Hall, which has traditionally served as a chamber music hall, now features state-of-the-art stage equipment to allow for quick transformations to host concerts, film events and musical and dance performances.
