Bumping & Billing

druf

If you bed a client during the course of a project (which is being billed on a T/M basis) is it appropriate to bill that client (or her husband) for the time that was spent "in the act" or smoking cigarettes immediately thereafter? Take into account some of the encounters may or may not have happened during project related meetings, rather than as separate planned events.

Arguments for billing:

Could be viewed as servicing the project
Could have spent that time doing other work
She was a bit of a cold fish

Arguments against billing:

Time was not spent in the direct production of drawing, designs, etc...
Ethical issues with AIA, State Board
The Architect might be viewed as a Gigolo

for services rendered, yes.

post coital cigs are a write-off, however. as are travel expenses.

but if she's a 'cold fish' why would you waste time/business for multiple encounters?

The eff'ing you get for the eff'ing you got.

The only way to balance the budget so to speak is let the wife (with equipment) or the husband bump you.
