anyone do project-specific websites? hmmmm??

jackalope

Our marking folks were told in a recent de-brief that our future proposals need to include a web portal or "project-specific website" if we expect to do business with them in the future. Hmph. Naturally, we're looking into it.

Anyone have experience with this? We can't find any examples because they're all password protected (of course). What are the major features? Whose using it? And how are you maintaining it?

Maybe we'll start with a questionnaire to our clients to gather some market research, but its a fog after that. Much thanks for any advice on this.

That's a nice site, thanks. After talking this over with marketing, our clients are asking about teaming. In other words, are we doing on-line collaboration -- webex, virtual office, that kind of thing.

Any experience with e-Builder http://www.e-builder.net/ae.html?

i've been considering doing something along these lines, but much more streamlined...something more akin to a simple wordpress or tumblr blog with all project members having authorship credentials.

anyone have any e-perience on the simple side?

I have just started using Newforma, but haven't yet had much experience actually collaborating with it. It seems promising though:

We use GoToMeeting and WebEx for web conferencing (I prefer WebEx).

i've been using newforma for about a year. we mainly use it to document email correspondence and create transmittals for file exchange. client/consultant access is very limited, but i understand it is capable of more than we are using it for.

additionally, i've used skire for project collaboration.

Newforma http://www.newforma.com/ looks pretty slick, as does ProjectSolve http://www.projectsolve2.com/ps2public/

FTP on steriods indeed. For those that have this, what's the cost of these off the shelf apps?

mightylittle, we're considering something light weight as well -- using a wiki and integrating FTP into it. Anyone try this with Mediawiki or something similar?
