So far on Net Flix I've watched Six Feet Under, Big Love, Entourage, Lost, Heroes, Battlestar Galactica, First couple seasons of 24... What else is good?
the beverly hillbillies SmOkeS! as does the DiCkVaNdYkEshow. the BoBcUmMiNgS was a hit with smokers as was the edge of the seat drama of the quinn martin production of TheFugitive
"The Office" never gets a lot of recognition, don't know why. But I love it. I think I am going to get punched for this....but....I am still in love with "Seinfeld"... YIKES!
really -- get the 3rd and 4th seasons of Homicide -- get them and THEN get The Wire. David Simon is SO about building characters (and actors) across shows as they realte to Baltimore it is essential you watch Homicide, then The Corner, then The Wire. Of course, it's not REALLY essential as none of the plotlines cross or anything like that, but it is a really nice way to approach it.
i was pretty disappointed with the 3rd season of deadwood. i just didnt think that the characters of sweringen and bullock would let the guy from simon and simon come in and push them around. also, does anyone think that the rhythym of the dialogue is at all reminiscent of milch's other show nypd blue? i just watched rome again and really really enjoyed it. poor ciaran hinds. he's died in everything i ve seen him in. ie rome, munich, road to perdition and most recently a cameo death in in bruges.
So maybe the familiar actor was a mistake, but the whole theme of the show must be Swiggin's downfall due to the consolidation of capital and encroachment of civilization. So they must get clobbered, no?
...Rome does have the rare value of showing us some man parts.
tho i do love Arrested D, Rome, The Office (British and US), Lost and so forth...
BUT if you are even partially interested in Sci-Fi, and not the sciffy cheap shit....Go with FIREFLY!... Joss Whedon is a genius (an no i do not watch buffy)
I stopped watching 24 at the third season... There's only so much completely unbelievable things happening one after another I could take.
At the point when the Jack Bauer's daughter is an intern working at CTU, I just put the dvd in its envelope and returned it... Officially jumped the shark...?
since someone mentioned Torchwood, I might as well throw Dr. Who out there. I'm partial to the original Tom Baker years as thats what I remember from my childhood, but I've enjoyed what I've seen of the new series too.
What TV series do you recommend for NetFlix?

don't forget deadwood, if you like oaters
and cursing
Arrested Development for the best intellectual comedy around or The Wire for the best intellectual drama around.
A lot of other good suggestions have been made though as well!
David "The Wire" Simon's original series is still my fave:
Homicide: Life on the Street
Freaks and Geeks!!!
Ah, I forgot Twin Peaks, definitely Twin Peaks.
"The Office" never gets a lot of recognition, don't know why. But I love it. I think I am going to get punched for this....but....I am still in love with "Seinfeld"... YIKES!
don't forget MiSsIoNiMpOsSiBlE!!!

gonna put the wire on the queue, and twin peaks... never actually seen twin peaks, is it good? it"s pretty old isn"t it?
how about the sopranos? i've never seen that either...
The first season of Twin Peaks is amazing, don't miss the two hour pilot episode. The second season is kinda ... different. Try it out, though.

Now:
Sopranos
Before:
Six Feet Under
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Lost
24
Deadwood
In Treatment........
It's been said but needs to be repeated because it's sooooooo damn good.
Six Feet Under
yes vado, and don't forget:
ThEmAnFrOmUnClE
and one of my favorites:
ItTaKeSaThIeF
Robert Wagner was the bomb.....
, staring Patrick McGoohan. i even have the penny-farthing logo tattooed on my fore-arm.
THE WIRE
the prisoner was awesome, but for action and sheer class, this one is my favorite 60s series...and Diana Rigg...rrrrrrrrrrrrr.
i'm assuming all these old series are now on dvd...
both the Prisoner and Avengers are available as DVD boxed sets. I've had the Prisoner for 4+ years now, so I'm assuming its on Netflix.
I CLAVDIVS is quite awesome...
agree, vado
diana's famous leather outfit ...more rrrrrrrrr.
Deadwood by far. The writing is amazing, the plot and the language both. As a bonus, it has some realistic women in it.
Jericho, the first season is quite good. The first episode gives you chills.
And Arrested Development, quite good for the silly laughs.
i fifth (or sixth?) arrested development... and to stay in the comedy realm:
mr. show
mystery science theater 3000 (though each show is essentially a movie)
The first few seasons of the West Wing are fun.
i was pretty disappointed with the 3rd season of deadwood. i just didnt think that the characters of sweringen and bullock would let the guy from simon and simon come in and push them around. also, does anyone think that the rhythym of the dialogue is at all reminiscent of milch's other show nypd blue? i just watched rome again and really really enjoyed it. poor ciaran hinds. he's died in everything i ve seen him in. ie rome, munich, road to perdition and most recently a cameo death in in bruges.
also that show cracker from the 90's was quite good.
also house of cards trilogy
and smiley's people etc.
i will second mr. show.

John Adams is pretty interesting...
tho i do love Arrested D, Rome, The Office (British and US), Lost and so forth...
BUT if you are even partially interested in Sci-Fi, and not the sciffy cheap shit....Go with FIREFLY!... Joss Whedon is a genius (an no i do not watch buffy)
Torchwood
watching first season now while waiting for the 3rd. at first glance sci-fi cheesiness but much more interesting than that. highest rated show on BBC.
I stopped watching 24 at the third season... There's only so much completely unbelievable things happening one after another I could take.
At the point when the Jack Bauer's daughter is an intern working at CTU, I just put the dvd in its envelope and returned it... Officially jumped the shark...?
Grey's Anatomy first couple seasons was pretty good... Stopped watching in the third...
since someone mentioned Torchwood, I might as well throw Dr. Who out there. I'm partial to the original Tom Baker years as thats what I remember from my childhood, but I've enjoyed what I've seen of the new series too.
First couple of seasons of Northern Exposure. Definitely the first two seasons of Twin Peaks
