I'm in Phoenix with the fam for the next 4 days or so, and the weather isn't going to be so hot (literally). Being a child of the east coast, I'm totally oblivious to any cool architecture projects to visit while I'm here waiting for the sun to come out. Taliesin West I know of, and am planning on going today or tomorrow. The question I have for you locals is: anything else to go visit or check out?
go see cosanti, paolo soleri's place in scottsdale, not to be confused with arcosanti. it is a great example of organic architecture, probably my favorite building in phoenix. also, the scottsdale mus of contemporary art by will bruder is great, with a permanent installation by james turrell.
also look up marwan al-sayed, eddie jones, and especially richard and bauer. all have great buildings only a short drive from each other. also, the lurs tower (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luhrs_Tower) is my favorite highrise in phoenix, it's worth driving past if you are downtown. not much on the inside though.
Ned Sawyer did a very nice office building at the back side of the Biltmore Hotel. It is an office building. Jones and Jones used to
have there office in the building. I also worked in that building.
You really have to walk around inside of the building, but it is all open and a nice experience if you visit the Biltmore.
Bruder has alot of work in the Valley of the Sun...
Threre is also alot of FLW work in the Biltmore Estates near the Biltmore Plaza. Some you can see others you can't but at least it
is worth driving around.
I know of one gem located on the North Side of Dreamy Draw, but
I don't believe I could give you directions there. I can't think of the
Architects name off of the top of my head. It was his home and studio. It is tucked away in a small subdivison.

Well ... I'm not a local, but while you're in the Wright state of mind, a visit to the Arizona Biltmore would be worthwhile.
Way ahead of you quizzical- staying there this fri/sat.
phoenix has some decent libraries...
AIA Arizona's website shows some images of recent design awards across the state ... several of these projects are located in Phoenix. AIA Arizona
