Working with Le Corbusier

Medit

I just found this priceless article - Working with Le Corbusier dated from one year ago, and it says it will "be continued" but I can't find the second part... any ideas on where to find it? I searched the Archsciety site with no luck.

Googling it it seems there's a book by Soltan with the same name of the article... someone has read it? Is it worth it? (I'm guessing it is..)

don't know that one but this one gives an interesting perspective from someone who also worked with corb. i wouldn't buy it - not very meaty - but see if you can find it to check out from an arch library or something.

thanks, maybe I'll take a look at this one too..,
I think the Soltan one must offer some interesting approach, at least a very singular one since when he started in 1945 to work at Corbu's atelier there was only just one person working with the master until he left the office and left Corbu and Soltan alone in the workshop.. seems that this Soltan is a first-class witness on how Corbu developed his polyedric world (his projects, his routines, his writings, his paintings, etc..)

well after some research, it seems that this writing is a chapter or section from a 1987 book called "Le Corbusier":
http://www.arq.ufmg.br/lagear/cabral/master/cap8biblio.html
from Princeton U. Press.. but out of print:
http://press.princeton.edu/titles/2614.html

there's a used one in Amazon for 70$, an italian version here.. and probably a few more in used books stores..

I had never heard of him before... here's a Soltan's bio: http://www.thecrimson.com/article.aspx?ref=509479
he was a participant in the Team X meetings as well -and did participate in the conception of Corbu's Modulor too:

and more.. http://www.hno.harvard.edu/gazette/2002/04.04/03-soltan.html

and if there's someone out there who speaks French or is simply a great Corbu fan I did upload some weeks ago a resumé of a 1987 French TV doc about The Crow (3 parts)..
it's rather confusing if you speak zero French but seeing a young Corbu drawing his famous suns and big eyes, or playing with a scale model of his 3 Million City towers is quite fun to watch..
there's also an interview with his old collaborator, mrs. Charlotte Perriand:
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=lcrb+medit1976&search_type=

I did also find a copy of the 1980 BBC series "The Shock of the New" presented by the great Robert Hughes.. it's about art more than architecture but chapter 4, "Trouble in Utopia" is about rationalist urbanism and the Modern Movement.. including some Mies footage doing classes at the IIT, a Gropius interview and footage of Corbu and his works...
It was 1980, the pinnacle of Po-Mo.. so it's more of a ferocious critique to the rationalists than anything else.. to make it even more devastating the whole show is filled with excerpts from an interview with Philip Johnson... and it seemed that The Whore did have a lot of fun charging against the old Int'l Style golden boys (Corbu in particular)...

I will upload it in 5 parts tomorrow at my Youtube channel for if someone is interested.. http://www.youtube.com/user/Medit1976
