LEED Certified

CESLennon

My company is located in NYC and we are looking to have someone come to our office to Certify us in LEED for Commercial Interiors. I know that there are companies out there that provide this service but am not sure which ones are the best.
An example of a company that comes to your office is Code Green Solutions.

Are there any other companies in the NYC area that provide this service?

Thanks.

By "us" do you mean your staff or your office. People get accredited, buildings get certified.

I assume you're looking for a LEED consultant to take you through the cert. process with the USGBC. Their website might be a good resource to check.

There are lots of Sustainable Design consultants in the city, most do certify projects.

what is the status of construction/design? if its already built, then LEED-EB is for you. if just starting design then LEED-CI can be successfully applied.

The USGBC, the AIA, and probably the interior designer institute will have lists of qualified professionals and firms.

Sorry I should have clarified. By "us" I mean the staff. We would want to get Accredited.

There are different track that you can take correct?

LEED EB
LEED CI
LEED NC

LEED AP

i am new to this.... and i am suppose to sign anyone up in my office that would want to get accredited. so i am just looking for a place to start.

thanks again

the usgbc has tons of info on their website. they also offer classes. there are other folks that offer similar classes.

buy the CI book from the USGBC.

people become LEED-AP after passing either the CI or NC exam.

i, too am a little surprised that it doesn't appear to be known in your office about LEED and the USGBC. i have to tell you that i'm a little offended that your office directed you to set up and sign up anyone who wanted to get accredited. the concepts that the USGBC through the LEED program are promoting is a culture rather than the piece of paper. the AP after your name is so others know you took a test. if you stumble when you walk after talking the talk, that will become evident rather quickly. just because you are a LEED AP doesn't mean you know what you're talking about or how to impliment sustainable strategies. i think it's more important to know the 'stuff' rather than say i'm LEED accedited.

i didn't mean to offend anyone.

Not everyone is going to be taking the test. This is for people in my office who draw in autocad. i fully understand what LEED stands for. I have already done a lot of research on USGBC. And i am currently in the process of becoming a member of the new york chapter.

I know that there are workshops that USGBC runs and also that the can come to your office for 1 day to do a review.

My question was if there are any other companies like Code Green, that come to your office once a week for 6 weeks to prepare you for the test.

just so you know, i wasnt offended, just surprised

a couple guys from my office have attended a one or 2 day all day seminar that goes through everything you need to know
and you also come away with a copy of the reference manual which is great to study from
its costly, probably like $500 a day or something
but that seemed to work well to learn things
i am not sure who offered it, but it was something through the USGBC

I'm currently studying to take the exam, or trying to find the time to
my firm only reimburses you when you pass, so i dont want to drop $250 until i am pretty sure i will pass
