In-house talent development

dsmclone

Our firm has been discussing the importance of in-house professional development. Looking at various business models, it is clear that the non-billables, like training programs to promote professional progress and distribute enthusiam, seem just as important as billable time. We have used a program called StrenghsFinder in an attempt to align employees with what they do best. We have also toyed with a loosely framed mentor program. I'm curious to know what other firms have used for formal training? What has worked, and what doesn't work in terms of in-house talent development?

no. i work for a multi- discipline design firm. do you have any suggestions for a mentor/ training/ development program? as for strenghthsfinder, any feedback is welcome as well. our firm has tried to use this system to create well rounded design teams and attempt to align tasks- interests- talents.

What ever happened to the boss just picking the most dedicated/talented employee for promotion. Never heard of software telling management who to promote. It should be quite obvious.
