Can anyone suggest (good) projects that involve the generic concept of "revolving" or "rotation"? I've been researching two different areas: technological, machinic revolving such as in floorplates and rotating towers; And projects that resolve this concept through creative form, such as FLW's Guggenheim Museum.
All the floor plate models I've found are basically the same, in restaurants and in towers, and are not that interesting to me, so I'm more inclined to projects with suggestive form.
fairly sure that there was an element of gropius' total theater project that moved around in order to change the relationship of the audience to the performance.
re: the flw/guggenheim model, there was a distinct 'rotating' sensory thing going on with this past years' serpentine in which olaf eliasson was involved.
Vladimir Tatlin's "Monument to the Third Revolution" had three primary forms, encased within a structural frame. each form rotated at a different duration: the lower cube rotated once a year, the middle pyramid rotated once a month and the upper cylinder rotated once a day. read this account: http://everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=1493285

The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in DC has a circular plan, although the levels are not connected like FLW's.

I saw a bit on this installation on Discovery Channel. The rigour required to pull it off was impressive.
