Maps

John Cline

A friend sent this link to me earlier today. It's an amazing blog on maps. I spent most of my lunch hour browsing the collection and reading the descriptions. I've loved to stare at maps for as long as I can remember. I also love to travel and will often study maps for hours of places I plan to visit. I hope to one day to have the resources to collect them.

I still have all of the local maps from when I traveled around Europe way back when. They are nothing more than the basic tourist maps you get from any local shop but during my stay, developed into a sort of diary of my adventures. I've even resourced them to tell friends where to stay when they visit these places. Usually, I did not write down a physical address, only a smudged star, circle or partial name remains.

Maps and floor plans are what set me on the architecture and urban design path, from age 5 or so. I'm sure I'm not alone here, either....

Great site!

My g/f is studying to be a cartographer / GIS specialist (it seems we'll both be using autocad and illustrator, side by side, for years to come). I'm going to pass this along to her. She might have seen it but she hasn't told me, so thanks!

(BTW, great link)

I made a scrap book out of all of the maps I picked up in Japan. I love flipping through it almost more than looking at my pictures.

But did you know that there are some people in this country that don't have maps? Therefore such as the Iraq.
