im not totally sure. it was done i think around 20 yrs ago. maybe more. the units have access to outdoor patio/ garden space. and i think it was on the westside.
I was going to suggest Dunsmuir flats by Ain, but they are more than 20 years old and not by Kappe. I'm not sure Kappe has done a lot of multi-unit stuff, his work tends toward the residential. Maybe one of the Kappe era SCI-Arc 'nectors could help you out?

hmm maybe it wasnt ray kappe. i am pretty sure the units are i think studios or 1 br w access to outdoor patio at least on ground level
was it the Horatio West Court project by Irving Gill in Santa Monica????
