Hi Can anyone recommend any exciting small/medium practices located in Berlin? Also, is it easy to find employment in Germany or other European countries with a limited understanding of the native language. Regards SW
I would learn german if you want to work in Berlin.
sauerbruch hutton. might be a little too large for you though.
they're good but huge. same with barkow leibinger. i can't think of any tiny firms that are doing any interesting work. i'm not really in the scene there anymore though. it's been a while.
Thanks for the replies Chase and Oliver. Has anyone had experience in Chipperfield's office in Berlin?
here are some interesting berlin links related to architecture. some firms, some other stuff. i'm sure there's a lot more where this came from. maybe some one of them could offer you a job.http://www.shrinkingcities.com/http://www.restmodern.de/index_e.htmhttp://www.oswalt.de/http://www.luxus-der-leere.de/http://www.meuser-architekten.de/http://www.muhs.de/http://conclus-berlin.blogspot.com/
wow, some of those are garbage... here ya go: http://www.graftlab.com/
you're pretty quick to judge. there's some interesting stuff in each of them. don't dismiss them because some of them have a boring aesthetic. some of them are important theorists to happen also have tame architectural practices. let me know if you want an explanation about a particular one.
i just looked at the barkow leibinger site... looks like they have/are done/doing some very nice work!! :-)
yes, but i think like half of their projects are for her dad.
