Go see the spire (easy to find). Take a short trip up to Howth and check out the cliffs and the interesting landscape of residential work.
There's also a great spot near the river that a lot of college students go to that has a great urban square. Lots of bars around it. Great spot, but I forgot the name.
And, of course, tons of classical work on the river.
It's called Meeting House Square, and there's a good farmers market there from 12-4 on Saturdays.
-On the south side of that square, there's a photography museum worth looking at.
-5 minutes walk south of the museum, there's a large Victorian red-brick block, containing George's Arcade (a series of small, somewhat eccentric-though-less-so-every-year shops) and the Market Bar, which is a great place for lunch.
-The National Gallery has a large extension by Benson + Forsyth, that's near Trinity College.
-The Hugh Lane Gallery, on Parnell Square, is about a 10 minute walk north of the Spike. It's been recently renovated, and the art isn't bad.
-Keating's on Wolfe Tone Square is between the gallery and the river. It's a bar in a listed church building. By all accounts the food isn't very good, but the drinks are fine.
-If you feel like taking a long walk / taxi, Grand Canal Dock has just been given a facelift by Martha Schwartz, and is quite pleasant if a little exposed (dress warm). Go in the early evening to get the full effect of the illuminated poles.
