Architectural Program

Cedou

Hey all,
I'm new to this site and to architecture as well. Since I'll be applying for 2008 M.archI program with a non-architectural major, I would like to know the most common used architectural programs.
I'm planning on learning how to use them by myself before entering school.

Thank You all ...

When you start your m.arch 1 program, it's more than likely that you will not use any software for producing architectural drawings.

You will be taught to draft by hand. So I really won;t worry too much about using any drafting programs. My best advice to just sharpen your hand drawing and sketching ability at first and then start to learn some of those programs down the stretch. 3d modeling and rendering programs will particularly become an invaluable asset when you do presentations and when you look for jobs, but more than likely you will be encouraged by your faculty to keep away from the computer for things like that.

Thge software that I use now at work are in this particular order:

CAD
Sketch UP
Photoshop
3ds max

Hope this helps.
