no idea - when i first went into michael hays' office (umpteen years ago), he had g-love and special sauce thumping the walls. (and they were just a 'local' band at that point).
steven holl likes bela bartok (or used to).
karim rashid always seems to have some kind of house club mix going in his place.
ugh...we don't listen to music...rather we curate sound environments and if you don't understand that then i suggest you exercise extreme caution upon entering...
and as of this moment, i'm listening to patrick watson's close to paradise to be followed up by a moodgadget compilation titled expanse at low levels
one i know of likes classical, but i can't mention their name cause i might get sued-anyway, i like to listen to new age (Robert Rich's Gaudi in particular) when i do my design.
Archi-tectonics (Winka Dubbeldam) has links to DJ Shadow, Prefuse 73, and Warp Records on their site... couldn't confirm if they're listening to squarepusher during client meetings tho
I thought "curating the sound environment" was what you did when deciding what should be playing when a chick shows up at your apartment.
The closest thing to a star architect I worked with played house music - this was in the early 90s - and toyed with having porn videos playing silently in the background, but knew that this wouldn't fly in a mixed-gender office.
I've always wondered the same thing. Personally, I love minimalism, especially Glass and Reich (I'm listing to "Music for 18 Musicians" now). Although, I'm not even a practising architct, never mind a famus architect, so I don't really have an answerfor you.

i listen to Philip Glass.
squarepusher = brilliant. I'm told to turn it off when I play it out loud at work though...
holz.box, i'm flabberghasted. i don't know if i can live in a world where REM can be considered less than brilliant!

aw c'mon, lb. weren't the porn videos mixed gender?
Usually its jazz via yahoo music or xm radio, sometimes its just things I have on my laptop - its mellow stuff usually.
I save the funky music for later in the day
Steven Holl used to play really difficult contemporary classical music (Schonberg, Webern, that kind of thing) very early in the morning.
Yes, they were, Steven, but this *was* pre-Moulin Rouge/Lady Marmalade.
In my office it's a lot of Cake.
