The battery-powered TH!NK City has a planned range of 110 miles per charge, with a top speed of about 65 mph, is 95% recyclable, will priced below $25,000, and should be available next year. The LAtimes reports that a southern california assembly plant will be producing cars for the north american market!
over in the holyland, Project Better Place is proposing to give away free electric cars with a monthly service contract just like your cell phone. So do they have built in cameras and down loadable horn tones?

^I'll believe it when i see it. GM introduced us to the electric car only to kill it, and I doubt they would do something so intelligent as to actually give us what we want for once.
After all, these are the same jerks who gave us the 17 mpg "hybrid" Tahoe.
Saw a Charlie Rose with Lutz (?) of GM styling. The Volt show car turned out to have the aerodynamics "of a brick" (Lutz) so they redesigned it. How could they have proposed a shape for this important eco-project without being aware of its performance characteristics ? Amazing. . .
The car uses a version of Honda's Integrated Motor Assist technology, with a 1.3-liter, 98-horsepower four-cylinder engine assisted by a 13-hp electric motor/generator (max torque is 123 pound-feet). Unlike previous generations of IMA-equipped Hondas, the car will move at very low speed on all-electric power and will coast at speeds up to 30 mph in electric mode. --Dan Neil
a car in sheeps clothing or is it a wolf?
Mdler, are you 14?
That's not an insult btw.

for the DIY hybrid crowd:
Inhabitat bring us the XR3 kit car that claims 125 mpg on diesel power alone, 225 mpg on combined diesel and electric power.
So if you have betwen $10k and $25k (depending on the options) plus lots of free time, you can build your own set of wheels.
and back to reality...

Prettier than a Prius, isn't it -- or "less ugly" ?

So will these hot swappable batteries also function as peak electricity sources for the grid?
it'd be fun to convert one of these to electric
