Sadly, Steven, I have childcare issues and won't be going - Brian is in NYC that weekend.
There is a bus from Indy for people going Friday - sponsored by a flooring company maybe? Apparently it's nice, they give you food and swag on the bus.
we didn't win anything, but i'm going to the awards dinner too. i like to see what everybody thinks are 'winners', though i already know that some of the ky ones are pretty disappointing. you remember the pointy building in downtown louisville?
this gave me an idea;
if you guys around christmas time, should we meet halfway somewhere?
we would be driving from ashland,oh and we could meet somewhere like springfield which is approx. half way. 2hrs drive from indianapolis and ashland. we would come to indypoli but 4 hours drive a little stretch.
we can call it; "not forgetting ohio"
sorry for bringing up that sad event but those 4 people who died that day was a big influance on me growing up to like this country and its youth from far away on the other side of the atlantic ocean.
before i knew much about america, i knew about ohio and kent state and american spirit.
for some reason, each time my plane touches down the cleveland runway i think about those 4 people.
i'm wondering what your dates are, oa. we'll be in va for most of the christmas period but, on the off chance that we're around this area, it would be great to meet you if the calendars can be synchronized.
I am not sure whether I will be able to make any of the convention or not. I have several other things happening ranging from kids in sports to a neighborhood design charrette at our office.
Vado, seems like everywhere you look, Eliel had a sweet detail. I love that building.
LB - I am not holding my breath on the awards. Supposedly, other firms have been notified that they have won an award - us, no word....
Steven, if I am going to make it, I will let you know.
it is usually from +,- december 20 to +,- january 2. but we will know better once we get to thanksgiving time. i will keep us updated. i know it is hard to find everybody at home during holidays but who knows, it may work.
oooo. closer to the end of the year may be more likely. we should be back in town by then and we might (don't know yet) have the week between christmas and new year off.
Hey, i am from columbus and i have heard nothing about this. Does this have anything to do with the downtown redevelopment? And yah vado is right most of Columbus does resemble that but still what other town under 40000 can you see Henry Moore surrounde by Pei, Saarinen and Birkerts? Still it is somewhat exciting to hear that some kind of architectural forum is taking place there, Mayor Fred could use some credible archi advice.
aia oh/in/ky convention, columbus in
october 12 & 13 in that midwestern architecture mecca, columbus in.
anybody goin'?
i'll be there both friday and saturday, including at the young architects forum friday night. i'll probably wear my 'architecture sucks' tee.

darn it, lb. i was hoping you'd be able to come out and play.
ohioans? vado? spark? anyone else?
I believe spark will be there...IMO they should be winning something there too.

however, most of columbus is like this...
Orhan, of course we can do a holiday-time get together. Let everyone or someone know your dates.

i think springfield would be about 3.5hrs for me.
