So we've established these are the top contenders.....
How do you regularlly ingest?
I'll go 1st-
Knob Creek+water or splash of good ginger ale
makers mark or crown reserve manhattans
p.s- please no whiskey snobs, e.g-two ice cubes or not at all.
In a high-ball glass or tumbler, with ice and club soda:
Dewars (blended scotch whisky)
I tend to drink more bourbon during the summer months (cool and refreshing) and more single malts during the winter (warms me all the way down). I typically drink the Dewars/Club Soda at events with hosted or no-host bars because it is, by far, the safest drink to order in such situations (and, typically, fine bourbons or single-malts are not available at such events). There is almost no way a scotch and soda can be screwed up, whereas almost any other mixed drink (other than rum/coke, etc.) can be royally screwed up.
And, sometimes, I like a nice Manhatten (bourbon + sweet vermouth + cherry).

here's my new favorite crush, it's a drink that i just invented that's a combination of merlot & scotch...i call it merlotch...and, no, you are not allowed ...
ledoux, we need to go drinking sometime, I like your taste.
aw, is treekiller wishing someone had a crush on him? Don't worry, I'm sure there's some 'scaper chick out there crushing on you and your homegrown chard from a distance.
Makers Mark or Knob Creek in a highball glass packed with ice, fill half with bourbon and half with coke or soda water.
FYI - both can be found in 1.75L bottles at Costco for under $40. At that price I don't mind cutting it with coke, which I hear is blasphemy in Kentucky.
Any higher end bourbon, i.e. better than Knob Creek, is enjoyed on the rocks...but small quanities as it's more $$$ and I like to make it last.
I've never had one and don't really fancy the sweet stuff but expect this to be quite tasty:
Whiskey Smash
Muddle four mint leaves and two lemon wedges with 2 oz WHISKEY
1 oz water
1/2 oz orange curaçao
1/2 oz simple syrup
Shake and strain over crushed ice
Whisk(e)y or bourbon +____=happiness

knob creek + seagrams
whiskey + sour = happiness

whiskey + friends = happiness
whisk(e)y + SEX = HAPPINESS.
(my apologies...but it had to be said.)
scotch and merlot equals happiness
whiskey + a splash of wiskey +whiskey flavored icecubes = happiness
Well, I really don't want to think of myself as a snob, but I like my whisk(e)y (including bourbon), as follows:
In tumbler with ice (no added water other than the melting ice):
Maker's Mark (bourbon)
Knob Creek (bourbon)
Woodford Reserve (bourbon)
In tumbler with ice and a small amount of added water (Bookers is cask strength):
Bookers (bourbon)
In single-malt tasting glass or snifter, straight up with a splash of water:
Lagavullin (single-malt scotch)
Talisker (single-malt scotch)
Laphroaig (single-malt scotch)
Springbank (single-malt scotch)
Oban (single-malt scotch)
In a high-ball glass or tumbler, with ice and club soda:

Ledoux's Eye you have very specific tastes and for that...I commend you!
Bravo!
Although i'd agree with all of your sentiments, i concede also a passion for sour-mash, straight from the bottle.
My rock-star mentality, what can I do?
I take my scotch neat and my sex dirty
scotch + merlot ? i will have to try that. maybe.
There have been plenty of nights (and days, for that matter) when "straight from the bottle" served me well.
Ledoux's Eye
I know that feeling. Having a bottle of bourbon next to your bed doesnt help matters either
i think the next time i go out to a fancy place i'll order me a rob roy.
vado
doesn't you pressence at a place make it fancy?
^ your
there is something about a manhattan at the end of the day that just makes everything alright.
Crown+Coke=Bliss.
Crown Special Reserve+Coke=Euphoria
Makers Mark with a splash fo soda water.
That is all.
Sometimes neat if i am already drunk
I only drink whiskey when I run out of Gin.

no seriously, scotch + a couple cubes of ice chased with soda/water

r- no need for a crush on my end, just bringing the origin of merlotch to a new generation of archinecteurs.
in case you missed it: bourbon is something we can feel good about!
