what do you do with the 3d model after the freelance rendering work is over?
My situation: agreed on fee for renderings and pres layout. I needed to make a full 3d model with applied materials. (standard stuff I guess) project is already in the process. 3d model wasn't discussed so I'm planning not to bring it up unless asked. thoughts?
sell the 3d model back to the client?

It's an instrument of service, and as such it generally remains the property of the architect/designer unless the contract specifies otherwise.
It's usually in your best interest to keep it and not sell it to the client, but there are exceptions.
