LEED Question...

superduct

everywhere in the LEED ref guide they are talking about incorporating the contractor into the design process as early as pre-design. how does this work when compared to the standard practice of bidding out a project and bringing in a contractor later in the process?

maybe i should restate the question:

when are you supposed to bring a contractor into the LEED design process?

This depends on what procurement route you are taking.

bring in the hammers as early as you can. that's the joy of integrated design.

you can either hire a contractor/cm as a consultant, or go the cm route and let them play the role of contractor then handle the bidding...

thanks killer. i got a 184 on the exam [yesterday], most likely due to bringing in the hammers so early.

thanks for everyone's help answering my questions.
