No no, they're just trying to meet people - which is the point of an AIA convention, yes? I actually had a blast at the only one I went to - and got the damn CEUs out of the way.
Aww, how dreamy though! Better than my regular e-mails from ArchiCAD, Urban Land Institute and the American Farmland Trust.
I thought about going just got the events and expo which is only $75 plus the costs of the dinners, drinks and turtlenecks. But I couldn't figure out a way to get to New Orleans that didn't take 46 hours by train or cost $800 to fly. So, if anyone goes, tell me how it was.
I have no reason to be at the other portions though. I learned that the hard way when I went to the APA conference last year or two years ago. Super boring. Got chewed out by a woman because I did a metropolitan planning workshop that wasn't for "snot-nosed little twerps" that consisted of highlighting street center lines.

aia convention? anyone?
Is anyone going or already down in NOLA? I'd be purely curious to meet some of you in person if so. I'll buy the first drink...
Sadly, no I won't be there - got an email from BIG asking if I was going though! I hated to say no. Which is to say, look for BIG NY to be there!
BIG as in Bjarke Ingels? Are you getting poached for a job?
