i think the one on the right is more successful as far as taking the road goes thru concept where it wants to go instead of comprimising it like the project on the left and try to fake it with parking lot asphalt and white driveway lines.
if zaha wants her project back, she should talk to the owners of punching a hole thru the glass of her building.

Mindarch,
Who cares, its a student project, and its definitely not the last time you are going to see a student emulate an architect that they look up to.

who gives shit, does pointing that out make you feel better, does it enhance your own work or creativity in any way...
is is even constructive to amoroso? good work.

Agreed with arrarrzzzz

Im just playing though. Its not mine, just seeing what kind of reaction I would get. Like arrarrzzzz said, who cares! I actually like the student version better. Could resolve a lot of issues like slowing down traffic, creating a connection over the street, etc. etc. Although I dont see the context of Zaha work and Im unfamiliar with her project I cant say the same. Looks like a parking lot or garage.

its still a knock-off even if it does solve certain problems. its one thing to be inspired by another's work. it is another thing to blatantly rip off and change on e of the solid areas to void and add a highway underneath. everyone steals. just learn to do it more nonchalantly...

Mar 17, 07 5:42 pm  ·

punky_brewster

yes, it's obviously a rip off of zaha, and poorly done at that.
but so what, the only person who loses is the person copying instead
of creating.
i've seen it done hundreds of times by students, they pick an obscure project, copy it and hope no one notices.
unless they actually try to get the thing built, i could give a fig less, but you might want to be careful posting a rip-off on an architecture site. you'll get called out every time, as you should.

zaha should be proud that someone can copy her, it shows that she is popular.

"everything under the sun has been done somewhere in the world at sometime"
very good point. the problem is that there is a difference between doing your personal process and coming to a solution SIMILAR to someone elses or having a similar vernacular and blatantly copying. the shot is the same angle, this guys building is the same bloody thing as zahas! there is no sense in copying to be copying. perhaps if this revolved around some sort of rendering class or a precedent study or something it may be acceptable.
perhaps it was just a lesson and not the guys "personal" design. i dont care. perhaps he should state it either way and not try to then justify it saying he is posting someone else's project...

bucku I don’t know if your targeting me but I did not post that image in the gallery. I was just "posing" as I was the owner of the image. Seeing what kind of humor I could get out of it, unfortunately a lot of designers cant take a joke on here. Don’t get your panties in a bunch there buddy. You can still learn something from recreating an existing project. You essential learn how that architect thinks. As for the copy cat I don’t know his or her intentions but Im sure they are not to blunty copy the design.

Please enlighten me with some constructive criticism on how the real thing is so much better than the knockoff. And where are the facts that the knockoff didn't exist before the Zaha design. Just lighting the fire…

Mar 19, 07 3:57 am  ·
 ·

well i'm not sure that vado took anything from seinfeld

not sure seifeld was ever particularly original (at least not without larry david),

but seinfeld has certainly been on the skids, don'tcha think?
