agreed. You can use your portfolio to demonstrate your range. However, make sure that your thesis book has a few really good pages that you can include in your portfolio.
a well put together and coherent thesis can serve as a portfolio. especially if it can demonstrate a complete and thorough process...i might be more interested in looking at that than i would at some project you did in first year...
