Hi, I'm a student at Ball State University
The first phase of my most resent project requires that I research the loblolly house. I've visited a number of sites and have not yet been able to find any building plans, sections, detailed elevations.
If you have any information of this kind that you could send me it would be very much appreciated, particularly considering that a ¼"-1' scale model as well as various diagrams of the loblolly house are required for my presentation.
wait, is this the jason johnson that used to teach at UVa?
anyway, yeah, there really hasn't been much published on the house yet, so there aren't any in-depth sources.
really the only real sources on it will be either Stephen Kieran or James Timberlake....but you should also read refabricating architecture while looking at it, because the house really isn't about the plan, section, and elevation as much as about the way it is developed as a fabrication strategy for mass production....
I got your messages and figured I’d pick up Refabricating Architecture before I wrote back. I like the diagrams and flipped through some of the titles, looks like a clever read.
Kinda stinks that there aren’t more sources yet, but I guess I could use a practice in patience. Studio always gets me a little anxious.
Thanks again everyone for writing.
archinect is SWEET
just checked your website....totally different jason johnson....the one i know i worked with some years ago before he went to Princeton and started teaching at UVa....
well good luck with the model...i agree with j, it'll be tough model to build.
