AutoCad-copy & paste ?

pmachine

I have a question on AutoCad which hopefully is not to annoying to read.

Sometimes when I copy an object from one drawing and paste into another, I need to use zoom extent to find the pasted object. The pasted object is located at huge distance from the drawing. Is there anyway to avoid this?

Nevermore

copy that object via grips
i.e with your cursor take a reverse crossing window over the said object, then you'll get those blue or green dots on that object called "grips".

Then right clickon any one of the grips, and 'copy with base point'..then CAD will ask to select a base point, select any point.

Then when you go to your other dwg and do ctrl v, your object will come with the cursor and you can paste it anywhere u wish.

Thanks. Makes sense.

p.s.
A quicker way to 'copy with base point' is ctr shft c.
