I guess I am a bit mystified at the product you are proposing to market. It sounds like a collaboration environment for architects, contractors, engineers, management, engineers, etc. to share information between various groups. I commend you for your efforts for the shear fact that this type of collaboration is difficult to achieve on a secure platform, not to mention the challenging task of file extensions. I notice you have reporting capabilities? Interesting. On another note, how does data mining fit into customer's requirements?

My assumption is that the person interested in this technology would be the company that has the responsibility to conduct and coordinate said activities to get the job done. So this is really a hard sell to a client (e.g. firm) that not only has an interest in collaboration but has a high volume need for collaborating with various stakeholders.

My suggestion is that you hugely discount the software to a big name firm. Once this firm is satisfied with your software and they can honestly vouch for your product, then you have a chance at marketing your software to other firms at the going rate.

The other avenue is to market to big software companies like IBM and the like, but they have their own collaboration environments and I don't think they would have an interest in something that markets such a small audience (unless you can expand upon the marketability of the product). Just my 2¢…

I would try to market it to autodesk, microstation, archicad, and whomever makes the construction software (I'm forgetting the name, but the type that lets you log all RFIs, change orders, correspondence. Contractors use it a lot). Market it to an existing company so that you can get one big payout and don't have to worry about the process of software development, upgrades, debugging, marketing, and sales.
