Vain Hearsay Distractions

Asanga

I'd be very grateful if you'd take the time to read my version of this song. Originally, “Both Sides Now (2000, Orchestral Version)” by Joni Mitchell; from the album “Both Sides Now” 5:45

“Mean Gossip Clouds”

Rows and flows of angel hair,
And ice cream castles in the air,
And feather canyons everywhere,
I’ve looked at clouds that way.

Sometimes they just concealed the sun,
They rained and they snowed on everyone,
So many things I would have done,
But clouds concealed the way.

I’ve heard of clouds from two sides now,
Both Us & Them and still somehow,
It’s mean illusions I recall,
I really don’t know Clouds…at all.

Moons and Junes and Ferris wheels,
The dizzy, dancing way that you feel,
As every fairy tale comes real,
I’ve looked at love that way.

Before it was another show,
And you left them laughing when you’d go,
And if you cared don’t let them know,
Conceal thyself away.

I’ve heard of love from two sides now,
Both Us & Them and still somehow,
It’s mean illusions that I recall,
I really don’t know you,
I really don’t know Love at all.

Tears and fears and feeling proud,
To say, “Know thyself!” right out loud,
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds,
I’ve looked at life that way.

Oh, but now old friends they’re acting strange,
And they shake their heads,
And they tell me that I’ve changed,
Well, something’s lost but something’s gained in living everyday.

Oh, I’ve heard of life from two sides now,
Both Us & Them and still somehow,
It’s mean illusions I recall,
I really don’t know Life at all…

(TENOR SAX)

It’s mean illusions that I recall,
I really don’t know us,
I really don’t know Them at all…

Thanks,
Allophilia
