Another post about finding a place in NYC

aesculanus

I'm going to Columbia, she's going to Hunter. Her #1 priority is price, mine is quality of life. Of course, her's overrules me.

The real trick though is finding a place that balances the commutes. No train lines run through both areas, so transfers are a pre-req.

I remember when we stayed in the city a couple years ago, we absolutely loved the whole chelsea/greenwich village/soho area.

But we're both students, and paying columbia tuition, well, our budget looks to be sub-$1400, incld utilities.

Suggestions?

astoria. m60 bus goes right to columbia, and stops at lexington for the 4 train to hunter.

you might not find anything but a studio in manhattan for $1400, and it wouldn't be in a convenient place.
