Update: Computer for 3D Rendering / Modeling / Arch Visualizations

breezviz

So I made a thread in the past about a Computer / Workstation for 3D Rendering, Modeling & Visualizations. Thank goodness...I went from the HPE-510t (which is a nice computer) to a more customized computer....

Here are the specs:

Operating System - Windows 7 Premium 64-bit

Processor - i7-2600K 3.4ghz (with Turbo Boost to 3.8ghz)

Graphics Card - AMD Radeon HD 6850

Memory -  8GB (4x2GB) DDR3-1333MHz

Hard Drive - CrucialC300 SSD 64GB SATA 3.0gb

Hard Drive #2 - 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0gb

Motherboard - ASUS P8P67 LE (REV 3.0) SATA 6GB/s USB 3.0

Case: Antec Sonata III ATX Mid Tower Computer Case w/ 500W Power Supply

What do you all think? If anyone has any of the pieces or insight, it is gladly welcomed!

So how much is this system costing you? Is this custom built as was recommended like before?

Yes, this will be custom built -- I'm going to take a stab at it. I think it will be around $1200 (which is the same price as the old stock computer: http://archinect.com/forum/thread/2525378/computer-for-3d-modeling-rendering-visualization)

I was about to purchase the parts, but I found out that HP is coming out with new workstations, the HPz2100 which is an entry-level workstation.

Decisions...decisions....but I think I will go with the custom parts I listed above.

What do you all think?
