you're not going to see sonic youth! You have to see them at least once in your life SuperHeavy!

i would go if the Benevento Russo Duo were playing again this year. Easily the best performance of the festival last year.

My god those two boys can play.

superheavy...
tips:
gettin your stuff stolen...this wasn't at all a problem for me the
last two years...i usually carry stuff with me..but i've also left
stuff in my tent and noone's bothered it...we've left canopy type
tents up with all our food and cooking stuff out and nothing's been
taken their either...if you're worried about anything locking it in
your car should be sufficient...i didn't hear anything about anyone
breaking into cars.

one major suggestion...get a shade tent. you spend most of your
time in the sun down there..and depending on the year in can be
very hot/dehydrating...in the morning i was typically woken up by
the sun and the need to get out of my tent cause it was so hot.
shade tents are also good when it rains...and if it's not super sunny
it's usually raining...

disposable shoes...if it rains it's going to be really muddy...and
kinda nasty.

beer/whiskey/whatever...buy a couple cases of beer before you
get there...and/or some mixers..if you're drinking that is...
everything is expensive once you get into where the shows are...
btw ..your ticket pays for all the shows...so i'm not sure why seein
more would be a money issue...plus all the tents are pretty close
together so you can usually go show hoppin...usually the two
large stages are rockin and very loud so it's hard to not at least
check out what's goin on...but when your near any particular
stage it's easy to block the rest out..

foodwise...we brought lots of stuff that doesnt' go bad...although
we also had a cooler which we filled with ice every day..so you can
also have hotdogs/burgers etc. most of the time you'll be at shows
so you'll be eating inside..but it's good to bring something for
breakfast and dinner when you want to take breaks...

french, sorry, but sonic youth was just a shade before my time (I'm 23, add to that, that I grew up in a small midwestern town before ubiquitous internet and filesharing). Though if I come across any of their work before june I will try to develop an appreciation.

lars, thank you for all the advice. good also to know its a chill crowd as far as theft. are the cars close to the camping?

I like to be as familiar as possible with bands music before I see them live, so the money thing was in reference to that (buying cd's, attending concerts).

so superheavy...
you camp right behind your car...there are huge fields that you
drive into...that's also a major piece of advice...they try to keep
you in real tight with the car next to you..thereby making it
a minimum of space for camping behind your car...so once you
get there get out and claim your space asap...everyone does it
so space is gone quick...although last year this was less of a
problem since there wasn't as many people...this year i would
suspect that there'll be alot of people again with the lineup..last
year there weren't as many big names...

the camp sites range in distance to the shows...if you want you
can park your car and then set up your tent in a camping only
section..but that means hiking your gear in..if you're cool with
that then you'll be real close...but your car will be somewhere
else.

also as far as previewing music..don't they have mp3s on their
website for you to check out?

though you do not listen to the bands i listen to, this festival should be really kool. You will have to make a list of the bands you would like to see and find out what stage and when they are playin cause moving around the crowd to the next stage will be difficult, and b/c most the bands you want to see will be playin at the same time. i was going to go but i have too much Sh!t going on in June. Also I believe they will be showcasing some of the 2005 Solar Decathlon competition entries @bonnaroo(the whole house built, working, ready to tour) Anyways...i will make a detour to 10,000 lakes festival in July, and Gathering of the Vibes in August Which are excellent festivals as well.

I am from Nashville. If anyone wants alternative directions to Machester, I can help you out because I know traffic is awful.

i work at an architecture firm in downtown nashville.

yesterday and today our downtown has been infested with burnt-out bonnaroo dirty hippies trying to hitch a ride back home. it's been our entertainment during lunch breaks.
