Donna, you shoulda just kept rockin the sweater inside out. If anyone said anything just be like, "oh, I know - it's cool, huh?"
As an aside, i just got tracked down for something I wrote anonymously for a local arts/ music/ design alt weekly newspaper by a VERY well known local/ regional writer who liked it. Made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside - like everything i do maybe isn't always as shitty as I think it is.
appears so but Frac reposted a qoute from Abra under same thread name. i imagine that will remain up until people on the west coast get up. Balkins you intelligence? now that i think about it maybe that wasn't your cousin but you in my Phil. of Math class who was a community student auditing classes and just happened to wear an FBI flack jacket to class. i always wonder about that type.....btw ever heard of Captain Ozone?
It's a play on pop culture, in this case comics / film. Large (1.5m) tubes of artist's paint in the colors of fictional characters. There are a number of metaphors here with the most obvious being extrusion (squeezing out product) and the implied question is that art?
Paint, Rock-Climb, Ultimate Frisbee, Drink, Make Beer, Read, Watch Sean Connery Bond Movies, Look at my post secondary degrees and license and pat myself on the back that I'm not a "building designer", Drink.
read, hike, draw, paint, brew beer, sing, dance, cook, play music, shop, travel and do touristy stuff like visit museums & historic places & monuments & stuff. Some video games too.
curtkram- lol don't ask, otherwise you'd be shocked with my answer.. I don't have fun! Just sick of my prison :p .. but for real, I watch "Revenge" and sometimes escape with my friends.. still enjoy throwing water balloons on people walking in the street from the roof lol .. last summer I traveled, but the journey always suck when you don't travel with the people you like.. .. I know i'm crazy person and yeah it's all signs of suppression :p :p
Zaina, most of the hobbies I listed above I had while I was a student. I kept up with them even-though I was working two part-time jobs as a full-time student complete with typical 70+ hour weekly studios projects. You gota give yourself some time or else you end-up jaded.
Once upon a time.. a group of architects gather in a place to discuss what can they do in their spare time...
blahblah blah blah blah... at the end, the came up with a very powerful decision that will change all of their lives.. they're going to spend the nights, weekends, holidays, and summer vacations WORKING because it is the only fun thing architects do! LOL ... How promising tomorrow seems!
@Zaina, for fun - yoga, live music and records, reading, drinking, bicycling, running, gardening, side-projects, etc and not in that order.
@Marc shrubs as in the drinking kind? Was just taking with the wife about making our own. Just put a batch of house-made cocktail onions in the jar, other day. Christmas martini's anyone?
For fun? Play Video games, build stuff, digital arts (modelling/photoshopping/matte painting/ etc), hike, mush with my husky, skateboard, spend time with the woman, gym and I'm trying to get into rock climbing after quitting cycling.
Alcohol? I don't do as much of it as most my closer friends are Muslim :/
Zaina - i will merge two thread responses here. My wife does say - no one would ever date me (pretty much true based on industry standards, which is why my father said after 6 months of dating her I should hurry up and propose before I screw it up) and she hates it when I say 'the wife'........ a lot od drinkers on archinect, damn architecture leads ya to drinking.

archanonymous that's very cool!
Hey Miles, was this sculpture commission for fabrication or everything?

Night all!

Nam - concept, fabrication, installation. These two are site-specific. Working on another big one and a triptych now.
Miles.. what are these elements if I may ask? it paints on the floor?

lol. don't leave us in suspense. is it art?
stan lee is a stud.
The fabrication on those things is flawless, Miles.
Miles.. how they're site specific? where do you paint with'em? /install
you don't paint with them zaina. they're sculptures of paint tubes
Miles, should have done one with Adam West Batman blue.
that could be next to michael keaton batman blue, and christian bale batman black.
you could also do jack nicholson joker green/purple, then compare that to heath ledger and jared leto.
brilliant
Thanks, Donna. I think your husband and I would have a lot to talk about.
Knight Black for Batman. It also plays into the Cleese character in Monty Phyton and the Holy Grail.
I have a silly question for you all..
What do you do for fun?.. .
ski, bike, paint, drink, watch outrageously funny tv shows. not in that order.
Paint, Rock-Climb, Ultimate Frisbee, Drink, Make Beer, Read, Watch Sean Connery Bond Movies, Look at my post secondary degrees and license and pat myself on the back that I'm not a "building designer", Drink.
Normal stuff really.
I'm a wood worker. I recently started a vehicle restoration.
Connery is the third best Bond.
Just saying.
^^I'm inclined to agree
drink beer. play video games. fish.
how about you zaina?
Third?
Blasphemy.
I didn't think Q ever joked about his work.
have to agree with Non, Connery is the best Bond ever
read, hike, draw, paint, brew beer, sing, dance, cook, play music, shop, travel and do touristy stuff like visit museums & historic places & monuments & stuff. Some video games too.

No Bond is a good one :p
Donna- for real?

Work. If it's not fun why do it?
Non,
wow! you're such a fighter! where from do you buy all this time?
.. for me it isn't only about time... really... it's about people who try to control over other's life! so sad
Miles.. thanks... work, work, work ... very helpful

who are bond's 1 & 2?
I prefer connery for his subtle assholery
Probably George Lazenby just because...
Connery is king.
I changed my mind.. Connery is definitely the best Bond!
1. Timothy Dalton - was everything Bond was supposed to be without Connery's Over-the-top cheesiness.
2. Daniel Craig - Most similar to Dalton
3. Sean Connery - Was first, so everyone thinks he's best. Just way too cheesy and forced.
T. 4. Roger Moore/Pierce Brosnan - Also-rans.
5. Can we just pretend Lazenby didn't happen? - Just awful.
6. Does Niven even count?
#whitemancanjump
Fun? Pakes and shrubs.
Fun house construction projects and drinking. Dug an egress window well through 5 ft of hard clay last sat, spent sun. in bed
fun- family arts and craft. beer. architecture. beer. philosophy. beer..........yes to sean connery
and noise!
@Zaina, for fun - yoga, live music and records, reading, drinking, bicycling, running, gardening, side-projects, etc and not in that order.

as a woman, I would feel very frustrated if somebody calls me "the wife"! :p you're speaking to the band of women's rights... :P :p just joking
Daniel Craig is the best James Bond - Period.
Daniel Craig makes me think of Putin.
