I agree with a couple posts above - "Van Wilder" is under-rated.
But if you are really looking to laugh - look no further than "Young Frankenstein".

it's not a movie per se, but "little britain" and the first two seasons of "the league of gentlemen" are hucking filarious british comedies -- and like family guy can be digested in small doses as needed

Movies to me are pure escapism. I've never been able to be a "Film" person, though I appreciate them when I see them. In general, I'm a sucker for dumb mainstream comedies.

but the funniest still has to be cadyshack
there is just way to many scenes and quotes in it for it not to be.

"I'll take two of those, some of these, a dozen of those, some of those naked lady tees. wow, look at that hat, that hat should come with a free bowl of soup.
(looking at judge smails)
oh, but on you it looks good."

Wow, I''ve gotta second some of these, especially what Ether, Rajish & AP put - Dr. Strangelove, Spinal Tap, The Jerk, Blues Bros & Royal Tennenbaums.

Also, love Raising Arizona - Nick Cage @ his best + so many good lines to remember: "Got any of them funny shaped balloons?" "Naw, unless you think round is funny."

And generally, any movie w/ Bill Murray, Ben Stiller & Adam Sandler.

Oh yeah. 'Midnight Run' - that Charlie Grodin w/ all of those serious & intense characters around him.

although i didn't expect to enjoy it, i have to admit that "harold and kumar go to white castle" cracked me up pretty good. probably the funniest shit i've seen the past year. that doogie howser stuff was great.

and although i don't believe it was meant to be a comedy, i cannot help but laugh when i watch "american psycho" the way that patrick bateman talks is ridiculuos:

"i was on the verge of tears by the time we reached espace because i was certain that we wouldn't have a decent table. but we did...and relief washed over me in an awesome wave."

and that scene near the end when he is on the big killing spree and he runs into his office building, only to realize that he is in the wrong tower (because they all look the same after all) and now he has to kill that night watchman too before he runs back to his own building...very funny stuff

"mit liv som hund" är lustig, nej?

i personally thought "songs from the second floor" was one of the most beautiful amazing absurd movies i ever saw, but "funny" was not quite on my list of adjectives
