c`mon guys chill.. i genuinely thought it was a fun for all competition and i thought the submissions ought to be funny too. it was a bit disappointing to know the entries were judged in a professional way. anyway, atleast there was so much spirit shown. i submitted 3 entries which took me about 20 min each to design.
my entries- the one which paul posted, the guy with a stupid smile saying "finally".. that`s mine. the one which javier posted, a very simple one which i really really liked, the one which seperates per`s posts and the roman messages. that`s mine too.
the third one was a wacky one quite similiar to the one abra posted.
i think your design of the guy with the funny smile is nice. obviously the editors didn't dig it, but i have to admit that i like anything that seems to come from outside the architecture/style complex.
i also thought it was meant to be a "fun" contest and i am a bit surprised by the tone of criticism from the judges and general lackof an open-mind on everyone's part. admittedly, i complained at first too, but it was because i thought the designs looked too good/nice. oh well, at least i only spent 145 hours designing my t-shirt (the edwardian script is reallllly difficult to and requires a lot of work to get it to look right which is why only fancy magazines like arch digest use it.)
Well....right now the Ronchamp shirt is in the lead. What it has to do with Fancy Graphics Lovers is beyond me, but oh well. After looking at them for a while I kind of dig the simple text on the gray shirt. Pretty cool.
to post an image, it has to be online, you can upload an image to imageshack for free if you don't have webspace, and then you can link it using the code at the bottom of the page...
the words "hi all you fancy graphics lovers" should be present, but doesn't need to be on the shirt if the design does a good enough job capturing the "theme" of the discussion thread. if a shirt has nothing to do with the thread it won't be a finalist, regardless of how good the design is. *remember - the discussion is a little weird and humorous and the winning design should be the same.
well, should i complain? yes, may be i should a little bit atleast to get a good sleep.:) i somehow feel, the spirit shown in submitting the entries was`nt shown in judging. maybe because people got more serious with so many entries.
apart from complaining, i do like the second and the fourth one.
i'm going to castrate myself now- due to the lashing my design got
my design is in second, (the text) and WOW i got hammered. thanks guys. i thought it was a quick fun competition and it got thrashed. took me half hour (in between archinect surfing of course) and i threw it out as a whim to go againts any "architectural" appearance, but wanted to actually post the funnier quotes from the thread. not much to it.
my ego is totally hemmorhaging now....(did i spell that right?)
and I actually spent more than a half hour on it, so I feel kind of stupid "wasting" my time trying to do something that fit the concept and was completely sucky. apparently I was wrong. oh well.
if it makes you guys feel any better, i personally would have chosen either one of your designs. i liked the silly quotes and i liked the simple Hi vs the one with the hand wave that I don't think I'd ever wear. I'm still scratching my head with the Ronchamp one. Cute (too cute) and totally unrelated to the theme. Maybe that is the best choice after all. In a sense, it would be yet another injustice to Persecuted Per. Never gets his due. Thus the cycle is complete.
pencrush, that Hi is definitely in my top two. I am surprised that not every entry used a 3D-H type structure, it seems that would be the most obvious starting point, no? And using it to spell "hi" I thought was brilliant.
I thought the 3d-H stuff was pretty obvious too... maybe too much so. I like the ronchamp one, I just don't really understand it's relationship to the fancy graphics lovers... but hey, don't they say to win a contest, you have to break at least one rule? :)
I just got back into archinect after a long break so I missed the deadline. If I had submitted it would have been a better version of something like this -
The heck witl law's and regulations, may the best win.
Is it ever to late to do everything exactly opposite what would have brought a less flattering logo, Realising that even breaking the rules are alright as long as it bring the topic, I think this is in the concept of happy graphics celebrators , I would keep this my own oppinion but maby it is the test , the real challance esp. as it is a scandal to do the right thing to do.
Now this was my favourite but I was a bit confused about copyright.
i think this contest just seriously needs a second round, since people obviously didn't get the point this time around. all of the finalists this time get to remain as finalists, maybe we can pick four more finalists from the second round, then have voting amongst the 12? it just seems like the general mood surrounding this whole thing is complete disappointment, when it should be excitement.
a second competition... i think it's funny how we always go back to architecture tradition even in something so meaningless. those ap shirt are very nice.
this is fun...in the true spirit of the fancy graphics thread we need to keep this discussion going until we hit 1,000 posts so that we can then commerate that occasion with a t-shirt contest...hall of mirrors, indeed
oh btw mwad... not to be notpicky or anything. uhm... puffy combs/puff daddy/puffy/p diddy...now wants you to drop the p and call him just Diddy. He said the P was getting between him and his fans. i'm serious.
T-Shirt Contest

now, how do i post mine from my pc? and where are the remaining t-shirts?
chameleon,

puddles, exactly! "fun for all competition". its still ringing in my head and i don`t want to complain. damn!!

mwad,
paul`s message,

pencrush, thanks.. maybe i`ll do it later.
WHOA....

congrats kyll,
mine's in third...

So how do I vote? I can't figure it out...
Yeah Pencrush I liked yours and the simple green text on grey t-shirt the best. The Ronchamp one isn't even related...oh well.
Oops, sorry Paul answered it already on the home page link - thanks.
liberty bell and mwad,
I thought the 3d-H stuff was pretty obvious too... maybe too much so. I like the ronchamp one, I just don't really understand it's relationship to the fancy graphics lovers... but hey, don't they say to win a contest, you have to break at least one rule? :)
i thought the HI was kinda cool too. i thought most of them were if not cool, just ok. but definitely not horrible to the degree they were hailed.
and they were all drive-by shot by almost everyone.. hmm....
i sense anger in many architshirt losers.....
I just got back into archinect after a long break so I missed the deadline. If I had submitted it would have been a better version of something like this -
peeweeper
not that its good or anything.
I think that probably would have won.
so Per, what's your veredict? which one(s) have captured the *real 3DH essence?
The heck witl law's and regulations, may the best win.

poetry
per-etry.
competition is now officially over with the de facto winner made public by the man himself.
per, thank you, for effectively ending this scandal.
i vote for the newest image in the image gallery. now that's creative and not a copy of an urban outfitters t. how can i vote for that one?
that pee wee one is pretty funny....
what about a Per's Greatest Works t-shirt collection?
any one of those shirts completely completely comletely rocks the socks off of all of the other shirts, finalists or not.
nice ap. that's the kind of stuff i was expecting to see submitted.
pencrush i want that shirt!
the last one that ap posted is nice. smaller graphic though please. i hate graphics the size of billboards on my chest.
paul can we please make an exception and let in at least one of ap's designs? pleeeease? what if i buy two?
i like pencrush's too. letting ap's in at this point is not really fair to others like pencrush.
i think this contest just seriously needs a second round, since people obviously didn't get the point this time around. all of the finalists this time get to remain as finalists, maybe we can pick four more finalists from the second round, then have voting amongst the 12? it just seems like the general mood surrounding this whole thing is complete disappointment, when it should be excitement.
This is starting to sound like P Diddy's Making Tha Band.
Not that I watched that show ;)
i just wanted a cool per t-shirt...
/puts head in hands and sobs...
agreed.
the overall spirit of the thread is completely lacking in a vast majority of those. one man's fancy graphics...
(pencrush has my vote)
a second competition... i think it's funny how we always go back to architecture tradition even in something so meaningless. those ap shirt are very nice.
now you see how we ended up with bush and the current congress...
this is fun...in the true spirit of the fancy graphics thread we need to keep this discussion going until we hit 1,000 posts so that we can then commerate that occasion with a t-shirt contest...hall of mirrors, indeed
oh btw mwad... not to be notpicky or anything. uhm... puffy combs/puff daddy/puffy/p diddy...now wants you to drop the p and call him just Diddy. He said the P was getting between him and his fans. i'm serious.
Cool cool. I'll give Diddy a call as hes throwin that bumpin party on the mTV. Are you going J Arby?
no. i'm going to be coaching football for snoop.
wouldn't it just be "arby" anyway? I mean the "j" would just get between you and your fans...
i'll work on a press release and a today show appearance to make that announcement.
there's also no "p in our _ool."
so who won this contest? i'm just curious to know which shirt i will be buying. thanks.
*bump
does anyone care anymore? was there a winner?
yeah. who is the winner? which t-shirt?
puddles, i know i`m veryyy late in posting my entries, but here they are.
