I'll be in london for a couple of weeks early next month, from the 2nd to the 20th. I want to attend as many lectures and exhibitions as i possibly can, but i don't know where to start looking for them. Can anyone help me out?
I've already found the following:
1) the HdM exhibition at the Tate Modern
2) the Koolhaas lecture at the RSA on the 4th
3) the Bartlett summer exhibition (though i might not arrive in time to catch it)
4) the AA juries and projects review
Am i missing anything?
Oh yes, i'd also love to catch an autechre or squarepusher show somewhere if i can manage it. does anybody know whether they'll be performing anywhere? and how much will it cost me?
40 under 40 exhibition at the V&A ,serpintine gallery pavillion?-is it on for this year ?isn't it ment to be Siza after MVRDV fecked up on their giant hill?
ya, Siza is building the pavilion this year. Are the older ones still there? or do they dispose of them once their year is up? I'd really like to see Ito's and Libeskind's pavilions...
no they are temporary but you can see libeskind's pavillion in Cork its been resurected and brought over and reassembeled as part of the cork being the EU capital of culture for 2005.
You can see toyo ito's pavilion on the building site of Battersea powerstation. If you take bus 345 from battersea towards liverpoolstreet and sit on the top floor you can see the pavilion. It looks crap now, all dirty and lost.
I saw Siza pavilion under construction but at the moment I'm not convinced. You can see the pictures posted on our weirdest forum poster Per Corell, 'Heres some fancy graphics 'topic.
the wolf prix lecture should be free on friday, but i think it's first come, first serve and there'll be a shit load of people there, as it's the opening night of the exhibition too...
The AA end of year Projects Review exhiition opens to the public on 11th July and continues until 29th - but you might enjoy the opening night on friday 8th - if you can get a ticket.
I'm heading down on Wednesday night next week. Hopefully staying for Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
I'd like to check the HdM exhibition, Cedric Price, and also this exhibition of colour: http://www.barbican.org.uk/gallery/Colour.htm which takes my fancy.
Will probably do one per day. Not sure what order, but if anybody fancies any of those gimmie a shout.
On an exhibition note (and even further off topic than lateral :P), the Liverpool Tate's exhibition of psychadelic art is certainly worth checking. http://www.tate.org.uk/liverpool/exhibitions/summeroflove/ is the link. I was blown away by the posters, publications and photographs on the first level, but the second is even more amazing. Buckminster Fuller drawings and Archigram display boards were most unexpected inclusions...

not in london proper, but as long as you're in the UK, might as well take the chance to check out some top quality electronic music.
