Paul, ignore vado retro's response as he is being a joker. Some of the Hurricane Katrina/ New Orleans housing competition entries might be interesting to look at, while not specifically river side, I think some of them addressed building in an area with the possibility of flooding.

hey have a look at the entries for a future house london competition that was held by RIBA in the UK. it was for a future house on the water, some of the entries were really interesting conceptually.
